A key area of engagement and expertice for SID dating back to the late 90s when a group of over 80 Kenyans representing different generations and backgrounds met to reflect on the future of their country. SID scenarios initiatives initially focused on single countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda) and then evolved into a major regional excercise to reflect about possible alternative futures of the region. SID continues to engage the policy actors, within and outside East Africa, in scenarios exercises combining reflection on current trends and patterns with informed anticipation of likely events to explore possible future outcomes.
