SID at NCCAP III Youth Engagement Workshops

SID received an invitation to co-facilitate the Youth Engagement Sessions for the development of the National Climate Change Action Plan (2023-2027). This is part of the Kenyan government's strategic planning sessions for different stakeholders for the implementation of the national climate related policies for the next 5 years. They are usually organised and convened by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry (MECCF), and this first meaningful youth engagement track is supported by GIZ.

The youth engagement workshops are taking place at Sentrim Elementaita Lodge, and there is the another session next week in Mombasa.

SID's Passy Amayo gave presentations on Unpacking what climate change is and how it affects the youth in concert with James Thonjo from the Climate Change Directorate (the is the first National Youth Climate Focal Point and a Climate Change officer at the MECCF) and presented the Energy for Whom? and Energy for What? under the session titled Climate change initiatives & opportunities for youth in the Agriculture, energy and waste sector.

We tweeted about the Youth engagement via our twitter handle @SIDEastAfrica under the #NCCAPThreeYouth. Kindly like and retweet.
