SID Council Member Betty Maina appointed to UN Advisory Panel on MDGs

The SID Secretariat is honoured to announce that SID Council Member Ms. Betty Maina was appointed on July 31 by the UN Secretary General to the High-Level Advisory Panel to advise on the global development agenda beyond 2015, the target date for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Advisory Panel include 26 members from civil society, private sector and governments.

The SID Secretariat warmly congratulates with Ms. Betty Maina for this important appointment and is pleased to express all its support as she embarks on this new challenging venture.

Betty Maina is the Chief Executive of Kenya’s Association of Manufacturers, one of the country’s leading business associations with some 700 members. Ms. Maina was previously at the Institute of Economic Affairs, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the Kenya Leadership Institute, among others. She served on Denmark’s Africa Commission and currently sits on various boards in the public sector.
