Press release | SoEAR Website | In the news

The Society for International Development (SID) is pleased to announce the release of the 2013 edition of the State of East Africa Report. The theme of this edition - prepared with sponsorship and support from TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) - is the current state and the future of inequalities in the Eastern Africa Region.

The Report explores the current status of income and wealth inequality both between and within the five East African Community member nations (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda), identifies the drivers of inequality, and imagines the possible and plausible outlooks on the future of inequality in the region. The report raises a number of strategic economic, social and political questions to engage all East Africans in a robust and enriching discussion about the East African Community integration process.

The report was launched on November 22nd, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel, in Nairobi, Kenya by the Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly in the presence of the Members of the East African Legislative Assembly.
