No women no peace! SID Netherlands dialogue with Shirin Ebadi

Women in the Middle East are increasingly targeted and even killed by extremists for challenging their traditional role in society. They’re seen as mere victims and their contributions to building peace and democracy are disregarded. The need for female leaders to establish a lasting peace is crucial. What pro-active role can women play in the peacekeeping process? How can we support these women and put a stop to the violence against them?

Dr. Shirin Ebadi is a renowned human rights activist, former judge and the first Iranian winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003. She will discuss the role of women in promoting peace and democracy in the Middle East

Tuesday 25 November H 16:00 – 17:45 at the Institute for Social Studies (ISS), The Hague,  organized by the SID Netherlands Chapter
