Launch of policy brief 'Deliver Women Farmers Rights'
The policy brief was developed jointly with ActionAid International, Bonatadu, Femnet, Groots, Faith Victory Association, Resseau de Femmes, Society for International Development, and Widows and Orphans Movement.
The policy brief launch will take place on March 24th as a side event at the Non State Actors meeting, of the 11th CAADP Partnership Platform sheduled to take place on March 23-26th 2015, in Johannesburg South Africa under the theme 'Delivering on Malabo Commitments on Agriculture for Women Empowerment and Development.'
The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) was endorsed at the African Union Heads of States Summit as a New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) program in July 2003. The overall goal is to 'Help African countries reach a higher path of economic growth through agriculture-led development, which eliminates hunger, reduces poverty and food insecurity and enables the expansion of exports'.
This year forum will seek to bring out, in practical terms, the connections between CAADP, African Agriculture and the African Union (AU) 'Agenda 2063', as well as work on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals.
SID will be present at this meeting to join in the launch of the Policy Brief 'Delivering Women Farmers Rights'.
