AFRICAN AND INDIAN CIVIL SOCIETY REMINDS AFRICAN AND INDIAN LEADERS OF THE ISSUES AT STAKE AND THE NEED FOR A CREDIBLE DEVELOPMENT OUTCOME AT THE FORTHCOMING TENTH MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE (MC10) OF THE WTO

The  42nd session of the Commtte on Food Security (CFS42) took place from 12 to 15 October at the FAO headquarters, in Rome.  The CFS is an intergovernmental body that meets every year (since its establishment in 1974) mandated to review and follow-up policies concerning world food security including production and physical and economic access to food.

The Right to Food and Nutrition Watch 2015 was launched at FAO Headquarters in Rome, unveiling key findings around nutrition and the impact of business operations on food policies. Welcoming its release, representatives from across civil society, social movements and the United Nations came together to exchange views about current approaches to nutrition.

The civil society-led Right to Food and Nutrition Watch 2015, 'Peoples’ Nutrition Is Not a Business', will be launched in Rome on October 9, shedding light on the control businesses have over food systems and policies.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) negotiated painstakingly over two years by all UN Member States  with thousands of public interest organizations providing their commitment and expertise have been copyrighted. And by whom? The UN you would think? But no. They have been re-branded as Global Goals (GGs) and the copyrighted by Project Everyone, a private company incorporated and registered in London.

This is a scenario study designed under the SID program called Tanzania Speaks. It probed what Tanzania as nation will be like twenty years from today. 'Ijue Tanzania Mwaka 2035' is a Kiswahili for 'Know Tanzania in 2035' which was prepared as newspapers inserts and circulated twice to reach exactly 100,000 readers across the country.

The Buenos Aires Chapter (SIDbaires) presented new authorities in a meeting in which its members reaffirmed their commitment to continue to work in the construction of inclusive and democratic development.

Fernando Grasso, chief economist with the ADIMRA metal industry chamber, has been elected as the new president of the Buenos Aires Chapter of SID (SIDbaires). The new leadership was presented during a meeting attended by over 40 members of the chapter on July 16.
