Areas of Engagement

In 2001 the United Nations organized a World Conference on Racism in Durban. It was quite a turbulent conference. Developing countries had criticized Western countries about slavery, Apartheid and the injustice done to the Palestinian people. However, the final document of the conference had been adopted unanimously. The US had stayed away, which was not uncommon for the US during those years, but all participating countries had agreed. No country later on had distanced itself from this agreement.
