Mobility Data & Stat

Print

Little awareness, lack of systematic data, and repetitive knowledge and information – on patterns, dynamics and consequences of the international migration – seem to permeate virtually all levels, from government institutions to civil society, in the media and in the public. This was a major claim in the Global Commission on International Migration final report (2005) and still remains a major constraint today for policy research. With regards to the African migration, unfocused knowledge and several common senses persist and may impede a process of political understanding, that is coherent, consistent and inclusive of all needs and priorities of sending, transit and receiving countries.

This section presents a preliminary selection of links to data, figures and facts on population and mobility. The aim is to highlight, on a regular basis, basic facts on migration as food for thoughts on topics that are usually either ignored or misinterpreted.  The list is not complete and is open to further contribution.
