Opening of the second part of SID 2012/13 Lecture Series

On 11 February 2013, Jan Peter Balkenende, Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands and currently chair of the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition, will deliver the first lecture in part II of SID's annual series on the private sector in development: towards a sustainable future.’ He will explain how transnational companies can provide innovative solutions to global challenges like the increasing demand for water and food, social inequality and global climate change. Are these solutions compatible with competitive business models?

SID Netherlands opens this second part of the Series with a very special (musical) contribution by the Eef van Breen Group. To be inspired view their TEDx Talk!

Lecture Series 2012-2013
In part II, starting in 2013, the focus shifts towards the role of the private sector in sustainable development and growth, moving from corporate social responsibility, the human dimension of private investments to the leverage businesses have in the countries they operate. Our financial system will be discussed as well as public procurement for sustainability.
