The Communications Teachings of Benedict

Catholics of the world might be tempted to blame Twitter for Benedict XVI’s decision to quit the helm of the Holy See. The resigning pope left Vatican City just over two months after opening his Twitter account. He produced 40 tweets, gained over 1.5 million followers but only followed his own eight alter egos featuring his tweets in different languages. Yet before talking straight to the digital masses through his smartphone, Benedict XVI had said a few interesting things about the state of the media in the postmodern world.

African Strategies for Transformation. Launch event in Dar es Salaam

The launch will provide a platform to delve into a variety of discussions on what transformation means for Africa and Tanzania. There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the fact that ‘Africa is Rising,’ but which Africa are people talking about? Which Africa is rising? Are we seeing transformation on the ground in Tanzania? These are just some of the questions we hope to answer with our panel of ‘African Changemakers,’ moderated by Mr. Charles Onyango-Obbo, Executive Editor for the Africa and Digital Media Division at the Nation Media Group.
